After the Senate hearing on extra-judicial killings and the so-called Davao Death Squad here comes the House of Representatives wanting to have their own show on the same subject.
In the Senate hearing erstwhile Commission on Human Rights Chair Leila de Lima who later became Justice Secretary and then Senator, was present and a breath away from her pet peeve, the resource person, former President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
The hearing lasted for several hours. It was exhaustive and for the aging citizen Duterte the entire encounter was stressful. He endured through it all any way.
We must say however that he weaved through the entire hearing with ease and comfort as he answered quite aptly what was asked of him. Recall that before the senate encounter ex-CHR Chair de Lima had been in all media platforms throwing incendiary accusations at Duterte for the death of 30,000 plus victims of EJK carried out by Duterte’s DDS. In the senate hearing however she suddenly became so silent.
It is not actually surprising because the former president could have just asked her for a single piece of evidence which she and her perjured witness Edgar Matobato, a self-proclaimed DDS, have exhumed in the abandoned quarry in Davao City where she claimed over 2,000 EJK victims were buried. The truth is she has= none. The other truth is DDS is a myth.
Now the inquisitors in the House of Representatives want to have their own show. The former President is tired. On the other hand two of the rambling members of Cuadcom, Dan Fernandez and “Pastor” Abante had been discredited for coaching a witness to lie before the hearing, a criminal offense which showed have locked them in a proper detention cell.
The Cuadcom of Speaker Martin Romualdez had lost its credibility so why should private citizen Duterte spend his own money for airfare and hotel accommodation in Manila and flying through stormy weather?
Well, Romualdez could have his hearing and entertain themselves but they can neither threat nor cajole Past President Duterte to stand before the HoR grand inquisitor and jury rolled into one.
