Pres. Bongbong Marcos snide remarks belittling the candidates of PDP-Laban is actually hurting more his candidates. Manny Pacquiao may have honed his solar plexus to sustain punches that his boxing opponents deliver, but Marcos supercilious “nagdeliver lang yata ng suka ay nabigyan na ng Certificate of Candidacy” is a stinging remarks on the poor boy from General Santos City. Pacquiao, as we all knew, licked poverty through boxing, earned 8 world titles and the adoring nation rewarded him the senate votes.
But Marcos disdainful comment did not only hurt Pacquiao but it sends a belittling insult to the millions who, like Pacquiao in his humble beginnings, are poor.
If one compares Marcos Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas with the senate slate of PDP-Laban the President could actually swallow his words including the sputum of insults on the poor.
The 12 Alyansa senatorial candidates are former Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay, Sen. Pia Cayetano, former senator Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Lito Lapid (actor), Sen. Imee Marcos, former senator Manny Pacquiao (boxer), Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., (actor) former Senate president Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, (comedian-actor)Sen. Francis Tolentino, ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo (commentator) and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar (billionaire).
Senatorial candidates that are running under PDP-Laban’s wing under Duterte include reelectionist senators Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa (PMA grad with US military advance courses and Chief PNP) and Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, (business graduate and father of Malasakit Centers) Philip Salvador, (actor) Raul Lambino (lawyer), SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, (lawyer) Jimmy Bondoc, (musician and lawyer) Jesus “Jayvee” Hinlo (lawyer) and Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Executive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy (Evangelist, owner of SMNI Radio and TV network and Jose Ma. College).
Marcos should have been conservative with his derogatory campaign salvo as it takes two to tango. Besides a number of charges he hurled against PDP-Laban are best ascribed to most of his senatorial candidates.
