Branded Beef Production Program

Manny Piñol

Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, impressed by the huge economic potentials of the Cebu Wagyu and Branded Beef Production, has offered his city as the Pilot Area for the program.

Mayor Durano hosted the Farmers’ Forum on Wagyu and Branded Beef Production attended by Farmers from all over Cebu, including neighboring provinces in Danao City Civic Center Thursday,
July 17.

After the presentation on the Economic Benefits for farmers from Wagyu Farming and Beef Quality Upgrading Program, Mayor Durano even offered the Durano Family land for the production of Sorghum for Silage and feeds.

The older Durano’s move was supported by his children, Vice Mayor Ivy H. Durano, and her brother, Mix, also former Mayor of the City.

Danao, a political stronghold of the Durano Family, has 10,700 hectares a large part of it previously planted to Sugarcane.

Yesterday’s Forum was part of a Series of Orientation Workshop conducted by the Food Security Team of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro to introduce agricultural opportunities for Cebu Farmers and Agri-preneurs which in turn would contribute to food self-sufficiency in the province.

I will be back in Cebu first week of August to pursue the programs which we have lined up under Gov. Baricuatro’s 5-Year Cebu Food Security Program.
