The anti- Duterte propagandists some of them pretending to be political analysts are in full throttle to divert the issues surfounding the ghost and substandard flood control projects and the hundreds of billions of pesos paid to at least 15 contractors.
They come in tandem with a number of congressmen out to get rid of Vice President Sara Duterte. They brazenly stonewalled the fact that the epicenter of corruption emerging from the scandalous projects now hounding the Marcos administration is in Metro Manila and Bulacan. Even the contractors involved are all based in the same regions.
They made a big issue of ₱51-billion infrastructure budget for Davao City’s District 1 which is actually a pittance when you consider the fact that the 1st District Represented by Paolo Duterte is actually bigger than the entire Metro Manila. They blubber as if the amount went to the pocket of the congressman and not on the Department of Public Works and Highways. They too dragged the name of Sen. Bong Go. Indeed while the family of the senator is into construction business, the had been in it before the senator was born. On the other hand, the “Bong” as he is known in Davao practically worked his own way as assistant to then Mayor Rodrigo Duterte all the way to his presidency. Bong Go still lives in the same simple townhouse. But nothing will stop them from bringing their probe into Davao. Unfortunately for them, DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon is out to weed out the beasts among the contractors who are behind the billions worth of ghost and substandard flood control projects.
Secretary Dizon too is aware that even as all the contractors are from Metro Manila they too actually monopolize the big ticket flood contol projects all over the country, and yes, the Davao Region. There are now loose talks of ghosts and substandard flood control projects in Davao Occidental, Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro. Some local officials are not even aware, for these are ghosts, and if they are aware they are too scared to talk. But Secretary Dizon for certain will unearth every shenanigan that the contractors and DPWH district officials are involved in. Make no mistake about that.
As to Davao City, the probers and the paid anti-Duterte propagandists are all welcome to this southern metropolis. Afterall this is a free country. Besides, diverting the probe won’t wash.
