Sen. Bong Go feeding program continues

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go continued the implementation of hospital feeding activities from February 9 to 13, reaching patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers in several public hospitals nationwide. The initiative, which began as a simple effort to provide food to those spending long hours in hospitals, remains one of the senator’s regular outreach activities to help ease the daily burdens faced by many Filipino families seeking medical care.

In Metro Manila, meals were distributed at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), Lung Center of the Philippines, East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, and Veterans Memorial Medical Center, all in Quezon City. The feeding activities also reached Valenzuela Medical Center and Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital in Valenzuela City; Navotas City Hospital; Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City; Lorenzo Ruiz Women’s Hospital and Ospital ng Malabon in Malabon City; Novaliches District Hospital in Quezon City; Ospital ng San Jose del Monte in Bulacan; and Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital in Tagkawayan, Quezon.

In Visayas, the initiative reached Western Leyte Provincial Hospital in Baybay, Leyte. In Mindanao, feeding activities were carried out at Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City; South Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Koronadal City; Soccsargen General Hospital in Surallah, South Cotabato; MC Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat; and Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.

According to Go, the feeding initiative started from a simple intention—to help in whatever way possible those who spend long hours in hospitals, whether they are patients, family members, or health workers. Over time, it has become a regular activity of his office, carried out in different regions across the country.

“Ang bisyo ko po ay magserbisyo,” Go said. “Kaya hangga’t may pagkakataon na makatulong, kahit sa simpleng paraan tulad ng pagbibigay ng pagkain, tuloy lang po tayo sa abot ng ating makakaya.”

The feeding activities complement the presence of Malasakit Centers, which are established in many government hospitals to help indigent patients access medical assistance more easily. While Malasakit Centers focus on reducing hospital expenses through coordinated government support, the feeding initiative addresses immediate needs inside hospital premises, particularly for watchers and staff who often remain on-site for extended periods.

Through these continuing efforts, Senator Go’s office seeks to provide practical and immediate assistance in healthcare settings, recognizing that even small forms of help can make a difference to those undergoing treatment or caring for loved ones.
