BM BA steadfast support to VP Sara

Board Member Bong Aala reaffirmed his unwavering support for Vice President Sara Duterte during his privilege speech delivered before the Provincial Board, expressing deep disappointment over the recent affirmative votes in the House of Representatives supporting the impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

In his address, BM Aala described the impeachment move as politically motivated and lamented what he called the “questionable and doubtful” decisions of lawmakers who voted in favor of the complaint despite the Vice President’s continued support from millions of Filipinos.

Aala stressed that while constitutional processes must be respected, the circumstances surrounding the impeachment have raised serious concerns among supporters of the Duterte family, particularly in the Davao Region where the Duterte name has long been associated with public service, leadership, and political solidarity.

The provincial legislator also expressed disappointment over the affirmative votes cast by some local representatives, saying their actions were viewed by many constituents as a betrayal not only of political alliance but also of the long-standing gratitude and loyalty owed to the Duterte family.

According to Aala, the issue goes beyond politics and touches deeply on the Davaoeños’ sense of “utang na loob” and shared identity as Mindanaoans who witnessed the rise of the Duterte leadership from Davao City to the national stage.

“Many people feel hurt and disappointed because the Duterte family has done so much not only for Davao but for the entire country. For fellow Davaoeños to join efforts against Vice President Sara Duterte is painful for many supporters,” Aala emphasized during his speech.

Despite the growing political tensions, BM Aala called on the public to remain calm, prayerful, and united, urging Filipinos not to allow political conflict to divide communities and families.

He also appealed for continued prayers for the Vice President and for national healing amid the political turmoil confronting the country.

“National unity must prevail over political persecution and personal interests,” Aala said, adding that he would continue standing firm in support of Vice President Sara Duterte “whatever the outcome may be.”

The privilege speech has since drawn attention among supporters of the Vice President across the province, with many expressing appreciation for Aala’s strong and steadfast position amid the ongoing political controversy surrounding the impeachment proceedings. (Carlo Manubag)
