A vlogger named Nico David showed up from nowhere to make a statement “… Sara Duterte isn’t even from Tacloban – so why is she there? “ David who hails from Pampanga considered it unusual for the Vice President to pay personal visit to the wake of the shooting victims in Tacloban dubbing it as a public relations move and to deflect attention from the what he claimed are issues against the VP’s accountability.

But David, obviously is just serving his masters. The Vice President just came from the General Santos City and the adjoining towns where homes had been leveled to the ground and vital infrastructures have yet to get much needed government attention.

Pres. BongBong Marcos was there for a brief visit but was met with heckles from the crowd who were yelling “Duterte! Duterte!” as he waive at them. He turned over ₱100-million as the government’s response to the destructions wrought by the killer quake that hit the area of South Cotabato, Sarangani and General Santos City (SOCSARGEN). It’s actually a pittance compared to the ₱500-million he handed to Naga City Mayor for the refurbishment of a small coliseum built years back in honor of Leni’s husband Jesse Robredo a former Secretary of the Interior and Local Government for his distinguished service.

Since the devastating earthquake VP Sara has been organizing relief operations led by Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte and delivering relief items in truckloads then supervising the allocations to the victims. She has scoured all nooks and corners of SOCSARGEN, come rain or come shine, comforting those who lost not only their loved ones but their homes.

Then came the shooting incident. She scooted to Tacloban to personally express her condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims but content creator Nico David ‘expressed skepticism about her motives’.

David conveniently forgot that in November 2013 when catastrophic tsunami spawned by Typhoon Yolanda devastated the City of Tacloban and claimed nearly 7,000 lives it was then Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who was the first government official who arrived in Tacloban home to the powerful Romualdez family. Duterte led a retinue of relief, rescue and retrieval crew from Davao City’s 911 emergency office and medical teams that encamped in ground zero. My own brother, Dr. Danilo Ledesma, was part of the medical team composed of 20 doctors and 20 nurses . His account was hair-raising. Dead bodies littered the streets and people who survived the 6-meter storm surge moved around like zombies. The local government was not functioning as every city resident were victims of the horrible calamity.

Duterte’s presence in the scene of tragedy did not elicit negative politically-charged commentaries like how David found it strange for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to be in the wake of the victims of the insane shooting. “She is not even from Tacloban City”, the vlogger complained.

This gives us the impression of how desperate are the political syndicate in their plot to derail VP Sara from the presidential race. However trivial attacks like the one waged by David only win more adherents for Sara who is fighting by herself being the real opposition, the phalanx of political adversaries from the rear, the front, the right, the left and the top forces who want her out of their way to fleece the treasury and remain in control of the kleptocracy.
