RAGE, a genuine opposition, is born (LETTERS FROM DAVAO by Jun Ledesma)

Jun Ledesma

Let me start with a ditty to start my piece today prompted by the emergence of the Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability (RAGE), a political coalition that is set to challenge the Marcos administration. By its initial statement RAGE principally advocates for accountability. It is bound to be the core group that will support Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s bid for the 2028 presidential derby. RAGE is the major opposition force led by Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, the younger brother of Sara who was just officially appointed as the Party President of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).

Thus:

Do not let down your shields from the evil empire,
nor be gentle with the thieves that left the coffers dry,
RAGE RAGE against corruption and scandal that persist
that pushed our only homeland to the abysmal pit.

Do not go gentle with the scheming and dubious characters
whose greed for power and mammon cannot be satiate,
so RAGE RAGE and RAGE and by their billions loot beware
for even scribes and critics abdicate their role and surrender.

The new coalition puts to stop the pretensions of the political cabal of Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes and Leila de Lima, etal, who had been posturing themselves as the “opposition”. With the union of Pres. BongBong Marcos and his erstwhile political enemy, Naga Mayor Leni Robredo, after wooing the latter with ₱500-million check , the political debauchery had led to the acquiescence of the counterfeit opposition.

The battle lines are finally drawn. It finally reveals who are the allies of Marcos. It is easy to identify them. They are those who had been so eerily silent on the grand corruption from the scandalous ghost flood control projects and the billions of kickbacks that can be contained only in “maletas” but are so loud in bad-mouthing Vice President Sara and wanted her impeached to get rid of her in the presidential race.

From the faces of those who attended the formal organization and launching of RAGE the initial political groups include PDP, Partido Para sa Demokratikong Reporma, and Reform PH. Noticeably present during the event were Senators Bong Go and Robin Padilla, Rep. Leandro Leviste, Rep. Paolo Marcoleta, Former Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez and former officials like Mike Defensor, Vic Rodriguez and former Press Secretary Trixie Cruz Angeles.

That is just for a starter given the unannounced and private nature and simplicity of the event. Expect the rest to follow.

RAGE has basic goals to focuses on which revolve on anti-corruption, combating rising costs of living, and addressing the grave abuse of power.

It sends a clear message to the current administration and its blood thirsty inquisitors that VP Sara will overcome the threats of impeachment given the absence of evidence and skeptical characters as witnesses. The emergence of RAGE affirms that henceforth the Vice President will no longer be alone and has a formidable organization that will back her in her journey to the presidency. Which means an attack on Sara is an affront to RAGE. Make no mistake about that.

So RAGE RAGE against the resurrection of the Marcos administration that benighted and brought perdition our nation.
